Explain in your own words what voting and curating mean for content in Steem, do they mean the same thing? Show the difference between the two terms.

Voting and curating are slightly different from each other at Steemit. Voting means expressing your liking of particular content. It's like giving a thumbs up or liking something you enjoy or find valuable. When you vote for any content on Steem, you're basically saying, "I like this content and want others to see it." Your votes help to determine the popularity and visibility of content within the Steem community.

On the other hand, discovering and highlighting quality content for others is Curation . Curators are like “content scouts” who seek out valuable posts to share with the community. They have the power to select and present content that they find interesting, informative, and entertaining. Curation isn't just about voting on content, it's about finding and promoting great posts that may have gone unnoticed.

So while polls are a way for individuals to express their personal tastes in content, curation goes beyond that. Curators are responsible for finding and promoting noteworthy content, helping ensure it is seen and recognized by the Steem community. By actively searching and featuring valuable posts, we contribute to the overall quality of content available on the platform.

If we vote a content before 5 minutes or after 6 days 12 hours of its age in Steem Blockchain, will we have the same amount of reward as the other periods? Show how one checks the reward amount of a post that has returned to Steem Blockchain's reward pool?

The amount of rewards received for voting on content depends on the timing of your vote on Steemit blockchain . If you vote within first 5 minutes after the post is published, or after 6 days and 12 hours, you may not receive the same rewards as in other periods. Time period of first 5 minutes is termed as reverse auction, in this time period, curation reward decreases to zero when time completed to 5min.

In last 12hrs of post before expire the curation reward started to decrease and Curation window going to close. So in this time period you may less or zero reward.

From above two different time Curation time reward is not same as we get in other time. The reduced reward return to the reward pool.

Calculation of the Curation Rewards:

Sir @kouba01 has explained this concept of calculations of Curation reward briefly and also giving this formula which is stated below.

Curator payout = (1/2) √PT (√P1-√P0) Δt

In this formula,

✓ PT = Payout on Expiry of Post (after 7 days)

✓ P1 = Payout of Post after vote

✓ P0 = Payout of Post before vote

It is important to note that...

∆t would be,

1 if the time (t) is less than 5 minutes
∆t =1

And, t/5 if the time (t) is equals to or more than 5 minutes

∆t= t/5

So, now we can say that the curation reward that we will get in the first 5 minutes would be less than the reward received in the general voting period. But some advanced curators usually curate the posts within the first 5 minutes and earn different rewards depending on their voting worth and some other factors.

Checking the amount of rewards :

From the steemworld.org website we can check the returned amount of post reward. For this just click on the respective post for more info and there we will see the returned reward. Check the below screenshot as an example.

How can a curator earn more than 100% upvote value as curation rewards? Take any post you voted in Steem Blockchain and indicate the time and position of your vote, what is the projected curation reward?

As we have already discussed that the first thing that we should consider while Curation is time of posting that is Voting window. Yes, it is possible to earn more than 100% of the upvote value as a curation reward from a post. The higher Curation Rewards will depend on the following things.

Worth of curator vote,position of vote, Time of Voting and Total Payout, voted before whale or after whales
these are some things that can effect our curation reward from any curated post.

Yes, it is possible to get more than 100% of the curation reward as compared to the voting worth. Let me explain this thing with the help of an example. I'm sharing screen shot from steemworld.org

The above screen shot you can check I voted post of @aaliarubab on 5th position after 15min and 21 s, my voting weight was 52%, my Curation reward is 119% and 0.13$.

What is the role of curation in better content discovery in Steem Blockchain? Is self-voting beneficial for the reward system explain why?

Curation play very important role in better content deiscovery (accessibility of good content on blockchain) at Steemit because if a post get enough votes it becomes popular and many users can access it. And many users support it by voting.

As Curation play good impact on post popularity so we must support a post with proof of brain so users get accessibility to good content.

When a user get support from many other by Curation, this will motivate the content creator to do more good work and get more support from others.

Self voting means curate your post with your account. You can do it but it's not beneficial to boost your post. At steemit self voting is not allowed.

When you starting self voting you don't get more visibility on the the block chain. At steemit we support each other by voting and commenting. Self voting reduce this Engagement.

By self voting you get less reward as compared to the fair way of Curation at steemit. These are consequences related to the self voting.

Conclusion

We have discussed above that voting is different from curation. Curation means give vote with proof of brain. A post must be curate after first 5 minutes of post publication and before 12hrs of 6thday to get more Curation. Try to give vote before support of big curators (whales)
