In Deuteronomy 15:11, the Holy Spirit let us know that there would always be poor people in the land and therefore the poor can not cease from being in the world. However, according to Deuteronomy 28:1-12, we also get to know that the will of God is for His people to live in prosperity and even lend to people and nations. So, while the poor people will often be in the land, the rich people will also be there always.
The choice of remaining poor or becoming rich therefore lies in your decision. To help you make your good decision, remember Proverbs 22:7 says the debtor is servant to the creditor, and that the wealthy will always reign over the poor. I will like to ask, do you want to be the ruler or the ruled? Do you want to be the creditor or the debtor? You have the decision to make. The sad thing is that a lot of believers are even afraid to prosper. Their perspective is that once they prosper, they will not go to heaven. This is a lie planted by the devil. If this is a thought you have lived with, you have to remove it instantly, or else the enemy will always use it as a tool to hold you back from prospering.
You may be the poorest man that ever lived or in the world, but if you are not born again and live according to the word of God, you will go to hell. You can also be the richest man that ever lives or in the world and still make heaven: provided you are born again.
Moreover, all God wants for you is to prosper, so do not embarrass God by choosing to be poor. To be poor is not humility. A poor man is a servant and I choose not to be a servant. Nothing in destitution will bring glory to God. God won't be glorified by your putting on rags. God isn't glorified by you being a renter till you die. If your Heavenly Father has mansions in heaven, you should at least have your own house here on earth. He has everything it takes to make you wealthy.
