Timeliness is one of the main prerequisites for offerings to be acceptable before the Lord. As we see in Luke 24:1-8, some individuals went very early to the tomb where Jesus was burial to anoint the His body but He had already risen. Their offering was too late and a few days to the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus, a woman anointed Him but she was been criticized for anointing the Lord’s feet with an expensive ointment.
The followers came on the resurrection morning to anoint the Lord but He had already resurrected. The angels that came to roll the stone away asked the disciples who went to the tomb an important question why are they searching for the dead among the living.
Whenever the Holy Ghost asks you to do something, no matter how silly it may look, please do it immediately and cheerfully. If you postpone it may be a late offering or service.
This follower who came to anoint the Lord went back with their perfumes in the light of the fact that the Lord was no longer in the grave. Also, some individuals some people away store their tithes for 2 or 3 months, sometimes even longer.
Some people claim to borrow their tithes to pay later. This is the reason some people lose their reward of tithing, giving unacceptably, not as and when due. Our offerings are not limited to that, we are also to show our kind gestures to needy brethren.
