We really want to continually remind ourselves as Christians that we don't have a standing city in this world. To take us to our standing home, real children of God are expecting an event, called the rapture.
One truth we should take cognizance of from Thessalonians 4:16-17 is that only the dead in Christ will be raised at this event. The "dead in Christ" does exclude the people who died a backslider; just the individuals who died as a true Christian will be raised when Jesus returns once more.
To be repturable thusly, you should dig in and stand firm for the Lord Jesus Christ, despite the fact that this may attract oppression or affliction. Be that as it may, we should bear these. Abuse and persecution are not abnormal to the Christian faith, as our Lord previously let us know they will happen.
Those of us actually running the Christian race today should be more cautious because there is a lot of distraction in the world today than ever before. So many things are going on that can distract us, to such an extent that we might fail to remember the great event we are expecting, which will figure out where we will spend our eternity.
