Childlessness as one of the highest mountain in marital challenges

Brethren, You will agree with me that one of the most serious tough times in the home is the situation where the wife is unable to suckle children. It landed a woman in a pitiful condition; so many people by that time will turn their backs on her because of this reproach.

As it was recorded in the bible, there were 7 barren women and miraculously God gave all of them children.
Let us have a perusal of these seven women.

• Sarah happened to be the first woman in the bible with this problem, and later at her old age, God made her the mother of nations through the birth of Isaac. Even though she has passed her biological age to conceive, but God proved his worth miraculously

• Rebecca happened to be the second woman that had this problem as it was recorded in the Old Testament Scriptures. God took away her reproach and blessed her with a child who grew to become the nation of Israel.

• Rachael happened to be the third. Rachael was dejected and her soul was cast down because of the problem of barrenness, at a time in her life, she turned to her husband, Jacob, and said > Give me children or I die”. But God visited her and she was blessed with the fruit of the womb. She gave birth to Joseph, a man of great price.

• Manoah’s wife is the fourth. Manoah’s wife, the mother of Samson was also barren for some time. But the Lord sent His angel to comfort her. A child was promised which later manifested in a son called Samson. He was a scourge of the Philistines and a deliverer of the Israelite.

• Hannah the fifth.
  Hannah, the mother of the great prophet Samuel was also barren for some years in her life. She called upon the name of the Lord her God, sealing her request with a solemn vow. She begat Samuel, one of the greatest prophets in the world history.

• The shunamite woman the sixth
  The shunamite woman was another barren woman whose wealth and greatness could not give her a child. But God visited her through the ministry of Prophet Elisha and she had her desired son.

• Elizabeth happened to be the seventh
  Elizabeth in the New Testament was also without a child for many years. The Bible says she was “Well-stricken in years” but God visited her, promised her a child which was fulfilled in John the Baptist the forerunner of Jesus Christ.

The God that brought smiles to these women has not left the throne. Trust Him and challenges will melt like ice.
