THE CRITICS OF GEDEON

Throughout biblical history we can read many characters who complained through murmurings against God. An example of this can be seen in the people of Israel who spent hundreds of years wandering in the desert because they began to murmur against God and could not enter the promised land.

We can also read some other characters whom God called with special ministries and before possessing them they made some negative criticisms about their person
One of these characters was Gideon before preparing as a leader for the great battle that God had selected for him to fight with the Midianites.

Judges 6: 12-16
. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, "The Lord is with you, strong and courageous man!"
And Gideon replied: "Excuse me, sir, but if the Lord is with us, why is all this happening to us?" Where are all the miracles that our ancestors tell us about, when they say that the Lord brought us out of Egypt? The Lord has abandoned us, and handed us over to the power of the Midianites.
The Lord looked at him and said, "Use the strength you have to go and save Israel from the power of the Midianites." I am the one who sends you.
But Gideon replied, "Once again, excuse me, sir, but how am I going to save Israel?" My clan is the poorest of the entire tribe of Manasseh, and I am the smallest of my family.
And the Lord answered him: —You will be able to do it because I will be with you. You will defeat the Midianites as one who defeats a single man.

God wanted to prepare Gideon for battle and for this an angel appeared to him and said: The Lord is with you, strong and courageous man! And to the surprise of many, Gideon ignored the great news that the Lord was giving him and what he did was start to murmur against God as a claim saying: if you are with us because we are going through this whole situation and he has delivered us in hands of the Midianites because Gideon ignoring the power of God at that time what his mind thought was that God had abandoned them since he only looked at reality but did not look at the word given by the angel since the murmuring did not let him clarify the great victory that would begin in his life

Gossip is not good in any area so we should never murmur or criticize the things that God does because only he has the power to act correctly. In addition, murmuring does not allow us to reach God's blessing.

Despite all this, God tells Gideon: Use the strength you have to go save Israel from the power of the Midianites. I am the one who sends you. Even so, Gideon continued to murmur against God and began to underestimate himself by telling him that he was nobody who was very poor and the smallest of his entire family.

We also find many people that God wants to use for great things but they begin to underestimate themselves and believe that they are not capable and they begin to express negative opinions of themselves that prevent them from achieving victory. But God will not leave us until he has achieved his purpose in us because we must bear in mind that we are not alone that God assigns us and he himself gives us the necessary tools to carry out what we yearn for and the purpose for which he chose us.
