UN VERDADERO PADRE EN LA FE

“No escribo esto para avergonzaros, sino para amonestaros como a hijos míos amados. Porque aunque tengáis diez mil ayos en Cristo, no tendréis muchos padres; pues en Cristo Jesús yo os engendré por medio del evangelio. Por tanto, os ruego que me imitéis”.

1 Corintios 4:14-16

              El objetivo de Pablo no era avergonzar a los corintios con todas sus palabras de amonestación, sino más bien convencerlos de su actitud equivocada y volverlos al buen camino, para lo cual ha utilizado toda clase de argumentos que les enseña que las divisiones que estaban provocando dentro de la iglesia eran contraria a la voluntad de Dios. Ahora el apóstol apela a su autoridad como padre espiritual para poner punto final a toda esta discusión: No escribo esto para avergonzaros, sino para amonestaros como a hijos míos amados. El objetivo de Pablo no era tratarlos como un duro superior, sino amonestarlos como un padre amoroso. Uno puede darse cuenta a través de las palabras que Pablo ha utilizado en esta carta su genuina preocupación por la salud espiritual de los corintios, en ningún momento sus palabras han sido hirientes, sino se ha esforzado por poner todos los argumentos morales y espirituales para fundamentar su posición, más ahora en suma a todo esto les recuerda la autoridad que tiene sobre ello no solo como ministro del evangelio, sino como su propio padre en el fe. Si había algo que nadie le podía quitar a Pablo era su paternidad espiritual en Corinto ya que él fue quien llego por primera vez a esa región y fundo la iglesia: Porque aunque tengáis diez mil ayos en Cristo, no tendréis muchos padres; pues en Cristo Jesús yo os engendré por medio del evangelio.

Este sirviente tenía que instruirlo en buenos modales, en ética, en ciencia y artes, ayudarle con las tareas de aprendizaje, y en fin ayudarle en su formación para llegar a ser una persona culta y preparada. Ahora bien, un niño podía llegar a tener muchos ayos, pero solamente un padre que es el que lo había engendrado. Los corintios podían tener muchos maestros que les enseñaban a ser buenos cristianos, pero solamente un padre en la fe, y ese era Pablo, porque él a través de la predicación del evangelio los había ganado para Cristo y les había instruido en sus primeros pasos, por ello era su padre en la fe. Como padre en la les pide a sus hijos espirituales que lo imiten en toda su conducta ya que Pablo estaba consciente que su conducta había sido honesta y pura delante de Dios y de los hombres: Por tanto, os ruego que me imitéis. Pablo siempre se esforzó por andar santa y piadosamente delante de toda la iglesia y no tenia de que avergonzarse, había sido ejemplo delante de ellos a tal punto que muchas veces exhorto a los creyentes a imitarlo (1 Corintios 11:1, Filipenses 4:17, 1 Tesalonicenses 1:6), incluso confronto a los creyentes a que juzgaran si su conducta no había sido recta delante de Dios: “Cuando vinieron a él, les dijo: Vosotros sabéis cómo me he comportado entre vosotros todo el tiempo, desde el primer día que entré en Asia, sirviendo al Señor con toda humildad, y con muchas lágrimas, y pruebas que me han venido por las asechanzas de los judíos; y cómo nada que fuese útil he rehuido de anunciaros y enseñaros, públicamente y por las casas, testificando a judíos y a gentiles acerca del arrepentimiento para con Dios, y de la fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo”, (Hechos 20:18-21). Por todo esto, bajo una conciencia limpia el apóstol Pablo les pide a sus hijos en la fe que lo imiten.

A TRUE FATHER IN FAITH

“I am not writing this to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. Because even if you have ten thousand teachers in Christ, you will not have many parents; for in Christ Jesus I begot you through the gospel. Therefore, I beg you to imitate me ”.

1 Corinthians 4: 14-16

              Paul's goal was not to embarrass the Corinthians with all his words of warning, but rather to convince them of their wrong attitude and get them back on the right track, for which he has used all kinds of arguments that teach them that the divisions they were causing within of the church were contrary to the will of God. Now the apostle appeals to his authority as a spiritual father to put an end to all this discussion: I am not writing this to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. Paul's goal was not to treat them as a tough superior, but to admonish them as a loving father. One can see through the words that Paul has used in this letter his genuine concern for the spiritual health of the Corinthians, at no time have his words been hurtful, but he has endeavored to put all the moral and spiritual arguments to substantiate his position, more now in sum of all this reminds them of the authority he has over it not only as a minister of the gospel, but as his own father in faith. If there was something that no one could take away from Paul, it was his spiritual paternity in Corinth since he was the one who first arrived in that region and founded the church: Because even if you have ten thousand teachers in Christ, you will not have many parents; for in Christ Jesus I begot you through the gospel.

This servant had to instruct him in good manners, in ethics, in science and the arts, help him with learning tasks, and finally help him in training him to become a cultured and prepared person. Now, a child could have many teachers, but only one father who is the one who had engendered him. The Corinthians could have many teachers who taught them to be good Christians, but only one father in faith, and that was Paul, because he through the preaching of the gospel had won them to Christ and had instructed them in their first steps, therefore he was her father in faith. As a father in it, he asks his spiritual children to imitate him in all his conduct since Paul was aware that his conduct had been honest and pure before God and men: Therefore, I beg you to imitate. Paul always strived to walk holy and godly in front of the whole church and he did not have to be ashamed, he had been an example before them to such an extent that many times he exhorted the believers to imitate him (1 Corinthians 11: 1, Philippians 4:17 , 1 Thessalonians 1: 6), even confronted believers to judge whether their conduct had not been right before God: the first day that I entered Asia, serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears, and trials that have come to me from the snares of the Jews; and how nothing that was useful I have avoided announcing and teaching you, publicly and at home, testifying to Jews and Gentiles about repentance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ ”(Acts 20: 18-21). For all this, under a clear conscience the apostle Paul asks his children in faith to imitate him.
