"When Jesus saw him there, lying on the ground, and found out that he had been like this for a long time, he asked him: Do you want to be healed? the water and, when I try to do it, someone else gets in first."*
John 5:6-7
That man had been paralyzed for 38 years. We don't know the details of that sad story, but the fact is that paralysis had conditioned his life to a bed for a long time.
Unfortunately, when someone faces a painful or limiting situation, they can become closed and filled with bitterness and resentment. The tendency is to always focus on the negative side of life*
It is possible that the paralytic had heard of Jesus, but he was not able to answer the question: "Do you want to be healed?" * Her focus on him was on his deplorable condition-"poor me for I have no one to help me" * ..
But how many times have we not done the same? We forget that God is by our side and we lock ourselves in our sad and empty little world, full of problems*
When difficult things happen that challenge us or bring us more than we want to bear, we are tempted to apologize with phrases like these *
"This is too hard for me."
"I don't have anyone who can help me."
"I can't take it anymore, there are too many problems in my life."
"It seems that all bad things happen to me."
Stop a moment!... Stop murmuring and apologizing for problems: look at Jesus, listen to him and take a step of faith! He is faithful and has all the power! He believes: EVERYTHING is possible for the one who believes.
Pray
💓 * Lord God, I want to put my eyes on you and not on the problems of this life. Sometimes it's very difficult, Jesus, but I don't want to complain or make excuses. Remove all bitterness from my heart and all paralysis from my life. Increase my faith, give me strength and joy to face everything, trusting that you can do all things and that you take care of me. Thanks, Dad. In the name of Jesus, amen*
