Sometimes ago, I read an article titled, "WISDOM OF THE IDIOT" in The weekly Trust of Saturday November 22nd, 2008,written by M. U. Ndagi. A story formed the introductory part of this article and I wish to share it with you;

"There was a wealthy man who had a gate man, whom people came to him [sic] to be entertained by his foolishness. On a certain day he was laughing unconditionally. When he was queried, he replied,

"I AM LAUGHING AT THOSE MEN WHO IF THEY WERE GOD, WOULD HAVE DENIED US IDIOTS THE RIGHT TO LIVE ON EARTH!

I pondered on that statement and all its philosophical implications. Then it struck me that we are living in a world where a great percentage of men don't give others a chance. In other words, many among the privileged have chosen to despise the seeming under-privileged.

Many parents say, "Only over my dear body will you marry from that poor home!" Those who have ever been despised can testify that it is a hell of an experience. Why do people look down on others?

I guess it is simply because their perception about others is limited to the information they have about them. You can't really tell what they seeming good-for-nothing fellow will become tomorrow.

Most of the world's legend we celebrate today never looked great from the outset. From the Albert Einstein's to the Ben Carson's. Let's learn to give people a chance by treating them honorably.

Remember the story of one of the greatest kings in Israel, David. He was looked down on by his family but was God's choice as the next king of Israel. If we keep in mind the Golden Rule then we will always treat others the way we would love to be treated.
