Genesis 30:22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

Joseph was the 11™ son of Jacob, and the first son of Rachael, who was barren for some years.
Joseph seemed to be the number one son of Jacob, because of God special hand which was on him. He was born by Rachael, the wife whom Jacob originally intended to marry, but was deprived by Laban his uncle, and exchange her with Leah, the first daughter.
Laban told Jacob that it was not their custom to give the second daughter first,
For that he deceived Jacob and gave Leah his first daughter to him; but Jacob worked for another good seven years on behalf of Rachael. It was not in the real mind of Jacob to marry Leah; his deeper interest and convictions were in Rachael

Genesis 29:27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.

Jacob decided to work for another seven years on behalf of Rachael. He finally married the two daughters, but his deeper love was still in Rachael; when God saw that the interest of Jacob was so much on Rachael. He closed her womb, and open that of Leah. And Leah gave birth to six sons and one daughter, while Rachael still remained barren.

at last, God harkened to the cry of Rachael, she put to birth her first son, and called his name Joseph. Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other sons. He made him a coat of many colours
