Matthew 7: 3-5
Reina-Valera 1995
3 Why do you look at the straw that is in your brother's eye and fail to see the beam that is in your own eye? 4 Or how will you say to your brother: "Let me get the straw out of your eye", when you have the beam in yours? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see well to remove the straw from your brother's eye.

LOOKING AT THE GARBAGE IN MY NEIGHBOR'S EYE
Look at the garbage in the eye of the other, how easy it is. Find all the details and imperfects of the others how easy it is; But when we are the ones in the judgment seat, we all want to be treated with mercy.
It is obvious. Human beings, men and women of all kinds and conditions, have an unhealthy and persistent inclination to criticize others. We see very easily, perhaps more than we would like, the defects and bad actions that those around us have and carry out, and this leads us to criticize them - in our hearts and out loud -, for a reason or for another, most of the time with great harshness.
We completely forget that we too have flaws, and that our flaws can be even more serious than those of those we criticize. So we set ourselves up as judges who mercilessly judge and condemn everyone who stands before us, while at the same time turning a blind eye to our own behavior, or looking for a way to justify it so that it is accepted without further ado .
In Matthew 7: 3-5 we find such an important teaching for our lives, not looking at the defect of my fellow man but taking care to look at my own defects will allow me to take concrete actions to make the changes I need to be a better person.
Jesus insistently invites us, in this and in other passages of the Gospel, to review what we are doing in this aspect of our life, and to promptly correct what is not in accordance with what he teaches us, not only because of that this way of acting implies disrespect for the other, whom we generally only know in appearance, but also and above all, because of how harmful it is to ourselves, because while we fix our attention on the other, to scrutinize, without any right, their way of being and acting, we are severely neglecting our own actions, in which, quite possibly, there are worse things, actions and attitudes more negative and more damaging, than those we criticize. It is time to reflect and ask God for help so that our character and life are a reflection of his character and love.
Thank you for sharing glori1612, this important topic in our daily living.
We cannot change others; only God can do it. We can't change ourselves either, but we can cooperate with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to do the work. Let God deal with us first, and then we will be able to help others effectively, humbly and lovingly.
GOD bless you greatly
