Ephesians 6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
Service to God is an obligation to all believers. Although this is seen to include activities in church, serving in departments in church, among others, it include the love and kindness we show to others.
For our services to be effective and acceptable before God, the Almighty God admonishes us today to offer it with good will and as unto God.
Brethren, talking about good will, we have no choice but to dive into the realm of motive. The reason for serving God and people is more important than the service itself because our rewards are dependent on it.
Any service done with a selfish, proud or materialism motive is bound to be at a lost to the doer. In fact, it's vain to serve God with the wrong motive, for what people clap for might be disgusting to God. God look at the heart (1Samuel 16:7).
Secondly, our service must be done as unto God, not as unto man. This is very significant because what is accepted by God and man might not be the same standard.
Man is impressed by the physical appearance, but God is honoured by our love for Him. Thus, our service must be offered in love in order to be accepted by God.
Serving in church or the community with hatred for others in our hearts is a waste to us, for people might clap for us but the reward from God will not come.
Brethren, take time to ponder: why do you do what you do? The answer to this question is personal, but it will determine if you are accepted before God or not.
Let's pray together.
Dear Father, thank you for giving us the privilege to serve. Please help us to serve effectively till the end, in Jesus name. Amen.
Well said.
