Remember the 3rd Commandment: Do not misuse the name of the Lord our God. [Exodus 20]

The third commandment says: "Do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain." This command prohibits pronouncing without reverence the holy name of God, prohibits any mention of God in frivolous statements and superficial conversations.

The third commandment protects the basis of our communion with God: prayer. By His Word, God created the world, the Word of God, incarnate, became the Savior of the world. Therefore, our word (since we are the image of God) has great power. One must carefully pronounce each word, and especially the Name of God, revealed by God Himself. You can use it only to pray, to bless and to teach the truth. When we pronounce the Name of God in vain, we do not learn how to use it properly and weaken our ability to communicate with God.

The name of God is remembered or pronounced correctly in prayer, in praise, in thanksgiving, in spiritual songs of praise and in conversations and conversations that are decent for Christians, that is, when the conversation is about the saint word of God, about the law and the gospel, about the coming of Christ into the world, about his sufferings and death, for our sake, about death, about eternal torment and eternal life, and so on; In other conversations, do not remember unnecessarily, and if you need to remember, remember with all fear and due respect.
