The apostle Paul advised the brethren in the Thessalonica church to be attentive to the scriptures about the prophecies that were being declared in their midst.
The apostle advises them not to despise what is prophesied, but to discern and retain what is good, but he also exhorts the brothers; he avoids all kinds of evil.
The Lord gives us total access to his word, which is the Bible, which refers to what does or does not come from God.
When we have daily contact with the word of God we become vulnerable and due to lack of discernment or ignorance of the scriptures we can slip and instead of retaining what is good, we retain what does not edify.
The first step for those who want to retain the good is to keep in touch with the word of God.
Discernment is a spiritual gift that should be a daily necessity. People who seek God turn away from evil.
The word of God is like displaying a banner, it gives us clarity and discernment.
We must avoid unnecessary arguments between siblings, as they can cause great confusion.
We must seek to edify the life of our brothers and not judge it that way, everything would be better.
Let's learn to hold on to all the good and move away from the bad and in this way we can teach others to build the lives of our family, friends and neighbors.
Remember that we are called to edify the lives of others and not to become their judges.
