Fear Not
READ: Numbers 13:27-33
MORE LESSON: Romans 8:37-39
I was reading the Bible sometime ago and I came across a phrase, …flying serpent; I thought I had seen some flying serpents. When they come at you, fear will grip your heart; but it's a lie, it is only a trick of the enemy. Fear is one of the strategies the devil uses against God's children. That is why no matter the situation, you must not allow fear to overcome you. Fear disarms you and makes you lose confidence in your defence. Fear makes a man self-defeated and once a person is defeated on the inside, there is little he can do or that can be done for him. You must therefore learn to always launch the Word of God. I normally tell any situation that comes my way, “I am not the one who fights my battles. I have One who fights for me and His name is the Lord of Hosts”. Refuse to be afraid because the Lord of Hosts who cannot lose any battle is the One fighting for you.
The Bible says we should not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. When you go to the hospital and they keep diagnosing different sickness and diseases, know that they are fiery darts and you must tell yourself that by His stripes, you were healed; before sickness came, you were healed already. I tell myself, “My body is not for sickness, it is the temple of God; so Satan cannot park here”. If you allow fear to envelop your heart, the devil will take advantage of it to afflict you.
When the devil wants to afflict a person he first torments him with the weapon of fear because he understands the power of the scripture that says, For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.… Prov. 23:7. As soon as he can use fear to make you think negatively about yourself, he has already defeated you. That is why all through the Scripture, you hear God say, “fear not”. As a matter of fact, there are 365 'fear nots' in the Bible; one for each day. So as you wake up every day, God's word to you is fear not. This does not mean that fearful and dreadful things will not come our way, but in all troubles, we must not be fearful. Rather we should hearken to the voice of the Comforter saying, Fear not.
The Bible says faith comes by hearing, conversely, fear also comes by hearing. The things you hear either boost your faith or heighten your fear. You must deliberately choose what you hear because if you allow fear to take hold of you, defeat is imminent. Fear is a torment, don't allow it to get the best of you. Arise today and face any situation and declare that you are more than a conqueror and that you are coming out strong.
