A lot of children of God in this age doesn't realize that discipleship comes at a cost. They do not know that our Master, Lord Jesus Christ, has a burden that they must share with Him. He even said in His word that we should put our burden on him and lean on him.
Our eagerness to share His burden with Him is the thing that qualifies us as His disciples. Today, the scene of the Christian faith is overwhelmed by what I term "the social gospel". This gospel lets us know that the end justifies the means. Things that Jesus Christ despised are what some believers are pursuing today.
Jesus Christ gives a distinctive description of the value we would need to pay to be a true follower of His.
In the course of the Lord Jesus' teaching, He talks about carrying our cross daily and follow Him. This is the price of discipleship. There are many "disciples" today who are a long way from being the Lord's true disciples. Many of such people can't deny their wicked friend, not to talk of denying themselves.
They hold firmly to the world, as opposed to the Holy Spirit's instruction. Are you a genuine follower of the Lord Jesus or just pretending to be one? Think about this and let us stop deceiving ourselves. We have to deny ourselves of some certain things to reign with him.
The Lord Jesus further speak on discipleship saying the disciple isn't great than his master neither is the servant great than his Lord
This Lord's principle on discipleship is firmly based on followership, administration, humility, obedience, and honesty. If you want to follow Jesus acceptably, you should adjust your perspectives to His standards.
We should ask the Lord for the grace to be a disciple that will truly do the demands of the Master.
