1 Samuel 22:20-23
[20]And one of the sons of Ahimelech son of Ahitub named Abiathar escaped and fled after David.
[21]And Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the Lord's priests.
[22]David said to Abiathar, I knew that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have occasioned the death of all your father's house.
[23]Stay with me, fear not; for he who seeks my life seeks your life. But with me you shall be safeguarded.

It takes a humble mind to admit his fault we never made mistakes. It is very easy and common to see and point at others faults; but it is not common not easy to expose your misdeeds especially when they are covered.

Even at open fault, some Christians will love to cover up or shift blame on others. David was not like that, he was a good and tender hearted young man, he plainly convinced the root cause of the annihilation of Ahimelech, his father and all the priests of Nob to the only surviving child of Ahimelech, Abiathar, who escaped death from the hand of saul and fled to David. If it were you, would you have confessed to Abiathar, especially when he had not been informed about the matter before that time? David loved to convince his arrow and seen both to God and man anytime. The only time in history he tried to cover his sin was a sin to Uriah. And immediately it was revealed to him through prophet Nathan that is saying was not covered, he outrightly became sorrowful and condemned himself even before the prophet 2nd Samuel 12:13

2 Samuel 12:13
[13]And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said to David, The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.

Will you learn the good example of this great man of God and become a man or woman after God's heart? Learn to confess your fault or sins to others, and say sorry remorsefully to those you offend. You are lifted!
