Why there is a no difference among the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament. If you read the Bible without studying it, that is the attitude you will have. It takes Bible research and study to discover the truth.
God of grace in Old Testament:
The God of the Old Testament calls Adam and Eve. After the fall, he curses them, but he puts on his clothes. He throws them out of the garden so that they do not eat from the tree of life and get everlasting life. If they ate from the tree of life, salvation would be difficult for us.
Dismissal from the garden was an act of judgment but also an act of kindness. The death penalty is grace and judgment. God did not intend for us to live forever in a sinful world. In a way, death is a happiness. believe that people like Hitler and Stalin lived forever on earth.
After Abel's murder, God still marked Cain and protected him. Before destroying the earth with a flood, he warns people who have been violent for 120 years. He offers a grace length of a hundred and twenty years. If you saw rape, murder, child sacrifice, and bloodshed everywhere, would you patiently wait 120 years? Would it not be appropriate to allow violence to continue after 120 years? Didn't God wait until his patience was extended to the limit? Was not the God of the Old Testament willing to save the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah even though there were only ten righteous people?
How can you deal with those who have been enslaved, enslaved, and exploited for over 400 years? Is it wrong to bring the 10 plagues on Egypt and to free the people from slavery for 400 years?
Before expelling the Canaanites, they had known God for 400 years, but they persisted in their wicked practices. Since God was willing to forgive and accept Rahab (a Canaanite woman) from the covenant people, he was more than willing to forgive the city of Jericho. The Canaanites feared God but did not abandon their wicked ways. God not only punished the pagan nations but also punished Israel equally.
When the Israelites rebelled and complained about God, he allowed them to wander in the wilderness for 40 years, but he faithfully provided manna for them daily. Can you continue to cater for people who take you for granted, complain and don't listen or trust you?
Wicked King Manasseh was forgiven by God as soon as he repented. God forgave David after he killed him. The Assyrians had the ability to scare the people and kill them, but God sent Jonah to warn them. When the Ninevites repented, he was quick to forgive. Throughout the Old Testament, you will see a merciful God who waits and waits for centuries before executing his judgment.
The wrath of God in the New Testament:
Now read the book of Revelation. You can't see the similarities in the Old Testament. It is God's wrath being poured out on this wicked, violent, and immoral world. It is a disaster after disaster and unthinkable destruction. In other words, it is a mistake to think that the God of the Old Testament was bloodthirsty and that the God of the New Testament is love. God remains consistent in His character and actions. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
If you study the Bible carefully, it is the same God in both Testaments. He is loving, forgiving, patient, but when it comes to judgment, there is nothing like his wrath. If you want to see a gracious God read both Testaments. If you want to see an angry God in the New Testament read the book of Revelation.
