  1. "I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; BUT LET THEM NOT TURN BACK TO FOLLY [foolishness].
  2. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land."
    Psalm 85:8,9 (NKJV)

• God is plenteous in mercy; if He had mercy on you—you should not turn back to foolishness.

  • Some cultivate the habit of wallowing in sin, yet they claim to be Christians.
  • After they might have committed a sin which they asked for forgiveness, and God did forgive them; shortly afterward they turn back into that sin again (1 John 1:9; Romans 6:11-16; 2 Peter 2:20-22).
  • If God has forgiven you, then stand in the Word, do not go back into that folly again.

"For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."
Galatians 5:13 (NKJV)

"as free yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice [wickedness], but as bondservants of God."
1 Peter 2:16 (NKJV)

• You have a responsibility to work on yourself (Philippians 2:12).

  1. "Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanliness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
  2. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
  3. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds."
    Colossians 3:5,8,9 (NKJV)

• If God has had mercy on you, He has forgiven your sins, then do not take His goodness for granted.

"OR DO YOU DESPISE THE RICHES OF HIS GOODNESS, forbearance, and long-suffering, knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Romans 2:4 (NKJV)

• God disciplines and punishes those who take His goodness for granted (Proverbs 11:31).

"For the time has come for judgement to begin in the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?"
1 Peter 4:17 (NKJV)

  1. "For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgement;
  2. and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah...
  3. then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of Judgement."
    2 Peter 2:4,5,9 (NKJV)

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!
