  1. “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we see Him as He is.
  2. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
    1 John 3:2,3 (NKJV)

• If someone who claims to be a Christian is living in sin, it shows the person’s hope in Christ is on the wane— those who have hope of His coming purify themselves (1 John 3:3).

  • If you commit sin without remorse, you wallow in sin, yet you claim to be a Christian, it means your hope has faded.
  1. “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remain a sacrifice for sins,
  2. but a certain fearful expectation of judgement, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.”
    Hebrews 10:26,27 (NKJV)
  • Living in sin, contrary to the Word, is a sign of waned hope.

• A Christian with a lost hope will no longer value spiritual things— THINGS he once craved for or prayed for.

  • He may not value God’s grace, ability, or gift in his life again.
  • The privilege of working for God; privilege of imparting the word of God to others, that was once cherished and valued by him, would no longer be cherished, and valued.
  • He may begin to crave and do again those things he used to do before he gave his life to Christ, which he had forsaken.

20.” For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

  1. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the Holy commandment delivered to them.
  2. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”
    2 Peter 2:20-22 (NKJV)

• If you are in this state, condition of waned hope, you need to go back to God—to rekindle, reawaken your hope in Christ.

  • Pray that you may receive fresh oil in your lamp, to keep burning for Him.
  1. “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
  2. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
  3. But we are NOT of those who DRAW BACK to PERDITION [destruction], but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”
    Hebrews 10:35,36,39 (NKJV)

• You will not fail in Jesus’ name.
Peace!
