Ask yourself “What friends am I comfortable with?” Proverbs 21:16 discusses the congregation of the dead. There are congregations and there are congregations and there is a company of the dead and there is a company of those who are alive, I mean the children of God.
Be sure that you do not find yourself in the company of the dead. With whom do you feel comfortable, is it the people of God or the people of the world?
Before I got born again, my friends and I would sit outside eating and drinking until very late in the night. I thought that was interesting; I did not know that I was actually in the congregation of the dead. In those days we discussed all sorts of wrong things. Then I met the Lord Jesus, and I was no longer comfortable staying with such people.
I was now alive and so had no place in most of the dead anymore. They were also not comfortable in my company in the light of the fact that they were not willing to join the company of the living.
The living isn't to be found in the midst of the dead. If you still feel comfortable with the company of those that smoke, drink and have all kinds of dirty conversations, you need to check yourself to know whether you are alive or dead.
What type of television program and music do you enjoy? Check carefully, what types of groups are you comfortable in?
