JESUS IN THE BOAT

Text: “And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him and say unto him, master carest thou not that we perish.”Mark 4:38

Jesus gave his disciples a very clear word “...Let us passes over unto the other side.” (Mark 4:35). Jesus himself was the word incarnate. Whatever he says was already established in heaven and must be fulfilled on earth. He was the same Jesus who spoke and the lame walked. He spoke and the dead came back to life. His words are Spirit and they are life. There was no way he would have spoken and that word would not come to pass. The disciples had not come to accept his word as the final authority over the circumstances of life.

In the midst of the storm Jesus was asleep not because he was careless but because he had a heaven backed assurance they were going to the other side of the river. In the midst of the storms of life we must be overwhelmed with the consciousness of Christ in our boat. We must be conscious of his eternal word that he has spoken over our lives before the storm began. It’s unfortunate that sometimes we become overburdened by the storm that we suddenly forget what he has said to us and declared in his word concerning us.

The word of God is our eternal anchor in the midst of the storms. If we keep our eyes on the storm it will get out of control; but rather we must keep our eyes on Jesus. We cannot sink with him in our boat. Whatever cannot sink him cannot sink us. I want you to take very clear note that Jesus is not just in our boat he actually lives in us. He dwells in us by his Spirit. We are his living tabernacles. We don’t just carry him in our boats; we carry him inside us.

Jesus was actually calm in the storm because he was in the storm but the storm was not inside him. The storm was an external condition and not an internal disposition. Keep the storm outside! Maintain your confidence in God.

PRAYER:
I declare today that my heart is kept away from every storm of life. I refuse to fear.
