Hello and happiest new year to everyone! I hope you guys are doing great.
So this is going to be my first post on Steemit this year 2025, first post on @VenezolanosSteem and first contest I am writing for after 3 years from posting on Steemit.
So I am super excited about @Genomil 's contest and here I am starting my new year by writing about it's rituals.
So I am happy to share the things I did specifically today with a fresh face. New year New me.
In Sri Lanka many of us do two main rituals on every January 1st hoping to attract prosperity , happiness , success , peace and love.
The first one is 'Spilling over the milk'.
Here the whole family gathered in the living room , make a little fire and wait untill the fresh milk or coconut milk in the clay pot starts to spill.
If milk spills in every side it symbolizes the prosperity.
Here is our pot and as you can see we can have a hope for a prosperous new year according to the belief.
The second one is Every family member lighting the oil lamp , preparing Milk-Rice with the left over milk in that clay pot and eat it with the whole family.
So as a huge fan of milk rice I enjoy this ritual a lot.
Most of us Sri Lankans add more food like bananas, cake, tea and other sweets too with milk rice ti the breakfast table.
And what I think about these rituals is a whole positive thing.
The most important thing I learnt last year after so many life lessons is the family is the most important thing.
Even though sometimes we live in the same house we hardly meet each other because of everyone's busy schedules.
Sometimes even though we all are present most of us watch TV or on the phone.
So I'm super glad that at least these types of rituals can brings families together and make us feel alive.
So, yeah, I strongly believe that if a ritual can brings a family together of course that ritual brings prosperity.
Glad that we followed these rituals today on January 1st and started our year like this.
Me encanta conocer sobre las costumbres y tradiciones de tu país en estas fechas, te cuento que no había escuchado sobre este ritual de la leche, con respecto al arroz con leche, sin saberlo, mi madre lo preparó como postre de nuestra cena, así que quedó genial.
Estoy de acuerdo contigo, si cualquier ritual nos une en familia y nos da esperanzas y positivismo, ya dio resultado.
