Malini is a young girl from the Sri Lankan village of Weerawila. She is incredibly friendly and trustworthy, and her smile brightens everyone in the community. But everyone has good and bad characteristics. Malini has a habit of gossiping about others, a quick temper, and times of jealousy. Malini, on the other hand, never understood her shortcomings or strengths; instead, she continued to live with their neighbors as normal.

Malini found a magnificent mirror with a golden frame while visiting an antique exhibit in Colombo. Because it was so lovely, Malini purchased it and put it in her bedroom.

Malini spends a lot of time in front of her mirror. Every morning, she combs her hair, arranges her dress, touches her lips, and practices her lovely smile to attract other villagers.

Something strange happened one day as she was admiring herself in front of the mirror. The mirror talked to Malani in a cheerful tone.

“Hello, Malini,” the voice said.

Malani became surprised and jumped back. "Who... who is there?" she muttered. There was no one there save her reflection. Malini is now conversing with her own reflection.

Malini leaned forward, and then the mirror answered in a soft tone, "Your style is very attractive, but that is only your appearance; why don't you look at your inner side?"

Malini seemed shocked and leaned more and more toward the mirror. She never wanted to see her true self instead of her outside look.

Malini said in a shaky voice, "Oh! I never want to see that side, but if you can show me my inner side, I would be grateful.

The mirror then revealed not just her physical appearance but also all of her flaws and strengths. She was amazed by her kindness when she helped her neighbors, her patience when she worked in society, and her joyful laugh, which made everyone laugh. She kept looking in the mirror, and to her surprise, it exposed one of her flaws after another. Her tendency to spread rumors about others. It revealed not only her jealousy of others but also her quick temper. Malini felt embarrassed. She was unaware of her flaws; she believed she was the best girl in the world.

The mirror realized Malini's shame, "Don't worry," the mirror reassured gently. "Everyone has both positive and negative traits. What is important is that you recognize all of those."

Malini learned a valuable lesson from the mirror, which helped her identify both her good and bad qualities. She promised herself to change her bad qualities, and she thanked the mirror.

Malini's image in the mirror smiled and said, "Indeed, Malini, every morning when you stand in front of me, you look at your inner side, not just your appearance; I will assist you in showing your inner side."

Malini began to alter since that day. When she felt envious, she swiftly dismissed it. When she became angry, she took a deep breath and turned her focus to something else. A challenging reflection in the mirror faded after a few days.

Malini eventually realized something wonderful. She never imagined she was that kind and powerful. The mirror not only revealed her weaknesses but also allowed her to see her abilities.

Malini began to live with more confidence and love after that, realizing that her true beauty was within. She imagines that the man who takes her hand would be proud of her traits and will show her genuine affection. The locals saw Malini's change and said, "These days, Malini is glowing." Malini shines not because of the mirror, but because she discovered the truth within herself.
