In this way, further investigations on different materials and similar methods can assist in providing more methods of developing sustainable energy sources that can be used to address current global energy needs as well as the issue of climate change.

The concept of artificial photosynthesis is a notion that attempts to split water molecules with the help of solar energy into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen generated can thus be utilized directly as a form of energy without pollution or recombined with carbon dioxide whereby; this makes it possible to produce renewable fuel. Thus, this approach is likely to serve society’s interests in the long run by minimizing the demand for fossil fuels and limiting emissions of greenhouse gases.

This is because the advancements in both the fields of material science and nanotechnology in the recent past have enhanced the efficacy and viability of the process. Scientists are also working on finding ways to create catalysts that can effectively supply the required chemical transformations within this process and create materials which can more efficiently convert the Sun’s rays into usable energy.

However, the problems can still be seen when it comes to expanding artificial photosynthesis into more common applications and uses. Some of the major challenges include efficiency, cost and stability: two of these factors have raised concerns on the commercial viability of the system. More development work is still required to help address these challenges and bring this possible technology to its fullest potential, and potentially fulfill a critical role in truly sustainable energy systems.
