An almost perfect landing.

Souce

On September 22, 2024, China's Nebula-1 reusable booster rocket underwent a test that, although promising, did not end exactly as expected. During its vertical flight, the rocket reached a high altitude and appeared to be on its way to a similar controlled landing. To those of SpaceX, however, in the last seconds the landing maneuver did not go as planned and Nebula-1 collided with the ground and exploded.

Deep Blue Aerospace, a private Chinese company based in Jiangsu is also competing in this type of technology, since 2016 they have been developing their line of Nebula family orbital rockets, with a clear objective to create reusable rockets that could land autonomously as quickly as possible. which would bring enormous commercial advantages just as SpaceX does.

During last Sunday's test, Nebula-1 took off with its three engines operating. When it reached its maximum altitude, which was not revealed, two engines were turned off, leaving only the central engine to control the descent. It was approaching the landing platform. But it was at that moment when the unexpected happened, according to Deep Blue Aerospace's post-flight analysis, the rocket's control system suffered a crucial failure during the landing maneuver, the engine shut down early, while Nebula-1 was still in flight. the air which caused his fall.

The good news is that the explosion did not destroy the rocket since it had consumed almost all of its fuel. In total, the Nebula-1 met 10 of the 11 objectives established for the test, with catering being the only point where it failed, even so, the company considered the test as a great advance and is already planning a new flight for November using the data obtained from this test to improve the performance of the rocket, without a doubt, the Nebula-1 still has a lot to show and we are attentive to this space race.
