What they did was move the orbit, they made its orbit shorter, shorter but it continues to circle around the larger asteroid, in this case of the asteroid 2024 YR4 we still do not have enough data but once we have the data of the asteroid the size, composition if possible, the precise trajectory then a mission could be sent and the best thing would be to at least send three ships in case the first one fails, obviously and not send them at the same time, even if they leave the earth in the same rocket that arrive several days apart so that if the first one fails you can make corrections to the other two so that they get it right and if you get the first one right then you can dedicate the other two ships to monitoring what has happened or sending them to explore other asteroids.
For example, the Probe that NASA is now sending en route to meet the asteroid Apophis and study it in detail, is the same one that studied the asteroid Bennu, they have reorganized its trajectory and is now en route to study the asteroid Bennu.
Apophis is going to pass very close to the Earth on April 13, 2029, it will pass approximately 31,000 km from the Earth's surface, it will be visible to the naked eye, the Earth's gravity will cause earthquakes on the surface of Apophis and it can also change the trajectory of Apophis, we do not know how much it can change it for the better and send it further away from the Earth, or it can change it for the worse, for now we know that in this century it will not give us problems, but beyond It's complicated, that's why both the European space agency and NASA are sending two missions to study Apophis and see what exactly is happening.
