The largest AI center in Europe.

Artificial Intelligence is advancing at an impressive speed and the countries that master this technology will have a colossal advantage in the future and France already understood this and took a bold step to become a Global power in AI, the government has just signed a 10 billion euro agreement with the British startup Fluidstack to build a 1 GygaWatio supercomputer dedicated to training Next Generation AI models.

And all the energy that this supercomputer will consume will be nuclear, becoming one of the most ambitious and sustainable projects ever planned for high-performance computing. This initiative will put France at the forefront of the global race for supremacy in Artificial Intelligence.

The Oxford UK-founded startup Fluidstack signed a memorandum of understanding with the French government that will initially provide 500,000 Next Generation AI chips. The project was announced at the Ai Action Summit in Paris where French President Emmanuel Macron himself revealed the details. According to him, France has a unique opportunity to become a leader in AI thanks to its secure and stable nuclear-based energy infrastructure.

The construction of supercomputers dedicated to AI is not new, the United States even announced an investment of 500 billion dollars in AI, but the French project stands out for three main reasons, 100% sustainable nuclear energy, unlike common data centers that require enormous amounts of electricity, this structure will be powered exclusively by clean and stable energy from the French nuclear network, this guarantees minimal environmental impact and an uninterrupted energy supply.

Gigantic computational power, we are talking about a GygaWatio for processing power, something unprecedented in Europe, this power can accelerate the development of models that today take months to be trained, reducing the time to days or even hours, expansion for the coming years.

The objective is not only to create a supercomputer but to expand the structure continuously until 2028, increasing its capacity to understand the growing demand of the AI industry. This move by France does not occur by chance. Currently, the race to dominate AI involves great powers such as the United States and China, which invest heavily in the construction of AI supercomputers.

And if the project is successful, France could become the largest center of Artificial intelligence from Europe, attracting scientific companies and investors seeking advanced computing power to develop new technologies.

An interesting detail with such a powerful infrastructure being created many experts believe this project could pave the way for quantum computing in Europe, AI supercomputers are already being considered the prerequisite for more complex advances such as hybrid quantum computing, a concept similar to the Fugaku supercomputer recently activated in Japan.

This means that in a few years France could not only lead the already classic but also open doors for the next technological revolution of quantum computing.
