The first flight of a fully commercial crew of non-professional astronauts, was safely completed 71 hours after launch.

The Inspiration4 mission, the first ever fully commercial orbital journey, was commissioned by 39-year-old billionaire Jared Isaacman earlier this year and launched on September 15.

In addition, this will be SpaceX's first manned flight using the Crew Dragon Resilience spacecraft that has already flown to the ISS but for cargo missions.

For this mission, the company has replaced the docking port with a large glass dome so that astronauts can observe the Earth.

The crew of the spacecraft includes four people, besides Isaacman.

It includes 29-year-old doctor Hayley Arceneaux, who will become the first person with an endoprosthesis in the leg and the youngest American woman in space.

The third person is 42-year-old Chris Sembroski, who works as an engineer at Lockheed Martin.

And lastly, a 51-year-old geology professor Sian Proctor, who was one of the finalists for NASA's recruitment of astronauts in 2009.

During the trip, the flight participants observed the Earth, and conducted a series of biomedical experiments.

They also played a specially modified ukulele and communicated via video link with patients at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Fundraising for this hospital is one of the goals of the project.

The soft landing took place at 19:06 on September local time.

The capsule splashed down off the coast of Florida 50 minutes after the braking pulse for the ship's vault from orbit.

It was SpaceX's fourth flight and third landing - one of the Crew Dragons is now docked to the ISS.
