(Autonomous sweeper / Tromba Technologies)
Finnish company Trombia Technologies has begun pilot tests of the Trombia Free outdoor robot vacuum cleaner in Helsinki.
The robot travels autonomously along Baan's walking trail, and cleans in other areas of the city at night.
Today, many developers of autonomous city cars focus on the transport of passengers or goods.
However, there are other areas in which self-driving wheeled robots could be beneficial, and cleaning equipment is one option
Sweepers often move along the same routes, performing common tasks, and therefore their movement is easy to automate.
Developed by Trombia Technologies, the Trombia Free robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with lidars and cameras. Thanks to then it is able to sweep the streets autonomously, avoiding collisions.
The maximum speed is 10 kilometers per hour, but during operation it is 2-6 kilometers per hour.
The dimensions of the robot are 3.52 meters long and 2.3 meters wide, with the installation of additional side brushes, the width increases to 3 meters.
Depending on the battery (45.6 or 91.2 kilowatt-hours are available), Trombia Free can work 8.5 or 17 hours on a single charge in normal cleaning mode, as well as 4 and 8 hours, respectively, in high power mode.
At the end of April, the company began pilot testing the robot on the streets of Helsinki.
During the day, the robot travels along the popular Baan walking trail, and at night it cleans up in other parts of the city.
By the end of the year, the manufacturer intends to launch 10 test projects, applications are accepted on the company's website.
The manufacturer plans to start selling Trombia Free for Norway and Germany in the summer of 2021, with the first production robots for delivery to customers in 2022.
