Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, has suspended cooperation with European partners in organizing commercial launches from the Kourou space center in French Guiana

The employees of companies that participated in the work at the space center will be taken back to Russia.

Also, the Russian agency will not cooperate with NASA in the creation of the Venus-D mission.

The Soyuz program on the Kourou to develop cooperation between Roscosmos and the European Space Agency was launched in 2007

As part of the collaboration, commercial launches of the Soyuz-ST launch vehicle developed on the basis of Soyuz-2 with an upper stage were carried out from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.

The rocket was adapted to the requirements of the Guiana Space Center in terms of safety, telemetry systems and operating conditions, in particular high humidity.

The payload was a variety of spacecraft, such as the Gaia and CHEOPS space telescopes, Galileo navigation satellites, OneWeb network satellites, and the Copernicus Earth observation satellites.

On February 26, 2022, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that in response to EU sanctions, cooperation with European partners in organizing space launches from the Kourou spaceport were suspended

Also, the employees of NPO Lavochkin, RCC Progress and TsENKI, who participated in the preparatory work and conduct launches will be taken out of French Guiana.

In response, the European Commissioner for Space, Thierry Breton, said that he took note of the Roscosmos decision and said that this decision would not affect the development of the Galileo and Copernicus programs.

The agency will continue to develop the new Ariane 6 and Vega-C launch vehicles to ensure EU autonomy in launch services.

An internal coordination meeting is scheduled for February 28, 2022, after which ESA will make a final statement regarding the Soyuz launch program from Kourou.

Hi @sarahjay1

Such a difficult past few years. Pandemic, lockdowns and now war. For so many people out there (Especially ukrainians) it must be a real nightmare.

I was wondering if you have any view on futute of Russia financial system (especially from the perpective or regular people) after interest rates has been hiked to 20%?

I can hardly imagine being able to pay any loans or morgage in similar situation. Especially while knowing, that all imported items will cost so much more since value of Rubel dropped so badly.

Any thoughts you like to share?

Cheers, Piotr

Hi Piotr,

Difficult times, indeed. And now the horrors of the war.

Regarding to your question, Finance is certainly not my field of expertise, but I do think regular Russian citizens shouldn't be the target of the sanctions. This whole situation is Putin's fault, not the commoners.

Russians will definitely suffer financially. Crypto might become useful, but I don't know how much.

Love,
S.

Somehow I've missed your reply @sarahjay1

I would like to say "thank you" for responding to my previous comment.

Hello @sarahjay1, You are currently delegating your sp to a bot which is making you not eligible for support from any curator

Oh, okay. I'm not sure I understand. But thank you!

S.

I mean you have delegated your sp to @upvu.

and is delegating to upvu an issue? I wonder

Yes. !! When you are delegating to upvu you won’t get any votes from either curator01 or curator04-curator08.
