South Korea successfully launched its medium-class Nuri (“world” in Korean) rocket for the first time.
The rocket put into orbit a mock-up and several satellites with a total mass of about 1.5 tons.
Nuri is a three-stage medium-class rocket with liquid engines powered by kerosene and oxygen.
At an estimated price of around $30 million, Nuri is capable of launching a cargo weighing 2.6 tons into a near-Earth orbit at a height of 300 kilometers.
It is already the second South Korean rocket, but the first one developed entirely by the Asian nation.
South Korea's first rocket was the Naro-1, which first stage was based on the first stage of the Russian rocket Angara.

The Launch
The first attempt of launching Nuri took place in 2021, but it was unsuccessful.
All 3 stages of the rocket worked in succession, but the third stage fired 46 seconds less than the estimated time.
This delay caused the payload (a satellite model) not to enter a stable orbit.
The second, and successful launch, took place on June 20 from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, about 330km south of Seoul.
The 4.72 meters rocket carried a mock satellite of 1.3 tons, a and test satellite weighing 162.5 kilograms
According to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), the last satellite had 4 cubesats from South Korean universities in it.
After the third stage entered an orbit at a height of 700 kilometers, the satellite with the 4 cubesats separated from it
Then, 40 minutes after launch, the cubesats transmitted the first signals through the South Korean station Sejong located in Antarctica.
