Who doesn't feel like a delicious and refreshing CUBA LIBRE, a high class cocktail that many people have tried, right? A drink that contains Coca-cola, Ron Dorado, lemon juice and of course a few drops of Angostura bitters, which gives it an exceptional flavor. But friends for a long time I have been wondering why this cocktail has a very peculiar name: Cuba libre? was Cuba really free? From what I understand, Cuba was a country with a lot of problems with the USA. Well what do I know!!! I am not much into politics and what I found regarding this name was this:
According to Wikipedia- "At the end of the Cuban War between the United States and Spain, in which Cuba passed from Spanish rule to become an American colony, U.S. soldiers brought Coca-Cola to the island where they mixed it with Rum. As Cuba had recently been "liberated", they called this drink "cuba libre".
OMG! yes, that's right! CUBA WAS LIBERATED... So then when we take a sip of this drink, let's toast to Cuba that overcame its problems!
