In Venezuela it is commonly called chives. It is a species of the onion genus; therefore its taste and smell is very similar to the white onion.
Each leaf has a long and fleshy base, which is closely united with the base of the other leaves. The floral stem is hollow and cylindrical, similar to the leaves, ending in an umbel that produce very small flowers with six seeds, flat and black.
