Heliotropium indicum
In Venezuela it is known as "Alacrancillo or Rabo de Alacrán". It is an annual plant with quadrangular stems and leaves with sinuous green margin, does not reach great heights. Its flowers are lavender or white, are grouped in spikes and this gives its name to the plant, because of its similarity to the animal's tail.
The plant is native to Asia; in some places it is a weed and is common in waste places, such as in populated areas. It has medicinal properties; the crushed leaves are used as a poultice and the juice extracted from this action is used to heal wounds, skin ulcers and boils; as well as a drop of juice can be used for conjunctivitis.
But it should be handled with extreme care, as it contains some substances that have paralyzing action on the nervous system and some alkaloids can have toxic effects on the liver. It’s free to use stock photo at will. Thank you’ll.
