Hello to all art lovers!!! and Of the dragons ^_^
These days I've been organizing various things, mainly some general cleaning in my house, resting from the last days of vacation, but mainly thinking about how to organize my time to be more productive and less procrastinating (which I hate to admit is something I do very frequently) because it is time to stop wasting time, and become one of those artists that I like so much to follow and see all their creative works of art, what motivates me to take this course is that very possibly at the beginning of october i will finally have internet in my house, and stop being offline all the time, go back to social networks, be up to date with trends and most importantly be able to share my art with you more often, like this dragon that I made in plasticine ^_^
To make a great sculpture of a Dragon
Like many of you I love dragons, and with the experience I got with my previous sculptures, I felt like making a dragon and unlike my previous sculptures that had a reference to guide me from, this would be a mine original taken from my imagination.
For this project I only had a very thin wire available for flower arrangements, which I bent in this way to define the height and pose of my dragon.
Being so thin, I used another wire, winding it on the previous one to reinforce it. I took advantage of it and made a base for the head.
Then I added 2 more wires, one to make the tail support and reinforce the base, the other I chopped in 2 to make the bases of the wings.
With two small pieces of wire, which I wrapped in the middle in each joint of the wings, in order to have the internal support of the wings.
Having the wire structure ready, the next step is to give volume with aluminum foil, starting with the base of the ground which must be heavy, so that the structure can stand on its own.
Then I gave volume to the body, until it looked like a recently fed snake, with pieces of aluminum foil I fixed the joints of the wings.
Then give the volume to the whole tail so that it was not heavy.
Finally I made the volume of the head, which consisted of a small aluminum ball.
It's time to apply the school clay, this dragon will be sitting on a rock, so take equal portions of black and gray clay to achieve a darker, stone-like gray.
Using my tool I was splicing the plasticine with irregular shapes and leaving lumps, until I had the desired shape of my rock, I am proud of the result ^_^
With green plasticine I began to wrap the body, but without covering the front, which will be covered with another color later.
Once the body was covered, I proceeded to cover the structure of the wings, using plenty of plasticine to mold their muscles.
Then I continued with the head, which exposes the lower part of it, where the jaw will be, ready that resume the wings covering the internal parts of these.
When you finish covering them, take a small rectangular-shaped portion to make the snout.
From this point, I began to apply yellow plasticine to the internal area of the dragon, starting with the head, to do this I first used a cutter to remove the excess green and better define the outline.
Continuing with the head, to complete the jaw, a wedge-shaped piece of plasticine, smaller than the top of the snout, and just butt around the head.
With this part of the head ready, I continued to cover the rest of the body with more yellow plasticine.
Briefly return to the head, to apply two small portions of green plasticine to the sides of it, which join until defining the cheeks. (Oddly enough, he seems to be happy)
I return to the body where I apply the yellow plasticine, with the help of a wooden stick, I begin to mark the scales of the belly, also take advantage and mark the location of the eyes.
For a better shape, I added strips of yellow playdough over each mark, butting them only at the top with one of my tools, and added texture with the end of a brush.
Now I start with the feet, which will each have 3 toes, to make them I use 3 rounded strips of green plasticine, two of them I fold in the shape of the letter U, the other I cut in half to make the middle toe of each foot.
I butted each foot a little and defined the tip of each toe a little, then I placed each foot on the sides of the body on the rock, to make the rest of each leg, I took 2 pieces of green plasticine and shaped it into ovals, I placed them on each foot in an inclined way, joining each one to the body, but only from the back and then with a wooden stick I defined the shapes of the thighs and the entire leg.
Having already formed the body, I begin to detail starting with the head, this dragon will be somewhat cartoonish, therefore it will have large eyes, so form large basins, in which I deposit white plasticine.
To each eye I added a circle of yellow clay to make the irises, then added a much smaller circle of black clay to make the retinas.
Once the eyes are made, I begin to make the lower eyelids, which are made with small strips of green plasticine.
At this point I added a small portion of white plasticine on the retina and iris of each eye to form the brightness of these, I also formed the upper eyelids, but these are less pronounced than the lower ones.
With green plasticine I form two huge caveman eyebrows, which I will position over the eyes, to give him a more intimidating look, and these will only be joined by the top of the head and between the eyebrows.
It is time to continue with the snout, I made a small cone of green plasticine which I placed in the center of the snout with the tip towards the nose, then I joined very carefully with a wooden stick and with this I made the nostrils.
I mixed yellow and white modeling clay to make the fangs, which I made by cutting out small cones from it.
As they are very small pieces, I had to do it very carefully, with the toothpick I made the holes where each fang would be located, and with the same toothpick I placed them.
Then I put a strip of green plasticine, on the upper contour of the lips, which I joined to finish the snout.
Then, with the same plasticine that I used to make the fangs, I began to make the horns, which consist of two huge cones of plasticine, but with a slight inclination in the middle, which I placed behind the head pointing upwards.
To make these look more natural, I gave each horn a stringy texture and then covered the base of each horn with a strip of green modeling clay and butted to the head.
This dragon will have more horns, but much smaller ones decorating its head, first I made two circles of green plasticine, which I placed symmetrically on the top of the head, and then I drilled in the center to put the small horns which should point back.
Under each main horn (the big ones) I put a horn three times as big as the small ones, and like the big ones I covered the base of these with green plasticine.
On each side of the head I put a small horn also pointing backwards, but omitting the circle part.
At this point the head was ready, all that remained was to finish detailing the rest of the body, first replace the green plasticine of the internal structure of the wings with yellow, then add a long strip of light green plasticine throughout the area of the column to the tail, which I spliced until it looked like a long crest.
Then using a cutter I began to cut and shape the entire ridge until it had a jagged appearance like a saw blade.
At the end of the tail I added a triangular piece of light green plasticine to form the characteristic arrowhead tail of all dragons, here I also added the claws of the feet with what was left of light yellow plasticine, I also began to make the Wings, which are made with yellow plasticine, are covered by first section of the body up to the first inner base of the wing.
The rest of the wings I covered with triangular pieces, each part was joined until obtaining the appearance of a bat wing, near the joint I added green plasticine which I joined with a wooden stick to add texture.
With the other wing I repeated the same procedure.
On the back of each wing I added a large thin portion of light green plasticine, which I joined with the wooden stick to give it texture, I did this to better unify the colors of the wings in relation to the body and to reinforce the wings.
The sculpture was almost ready, the only thing left was to add the texture of scales for all the smooth parts of the body, which I did with the tip of a wooden stick for the smaller parts like the crest, and the rest I did with the part behind a brush.
And finally my first Dragon is ready, I loved the result, this little dragon ended up having a height of 12.3 cm.
I must improve the texture of scales technique, the one I got works, but this one can be better, it will be when I have more experience and I am encouraged with a more detailed one, but that will be for work for my future self hehe ^_^

What an astonishing post you have presented to us on the process of how you produce a dragon in plasticine.
This post would have been best if you limited the amount of pictures because the pictures uploaded in this post are just way too much which turns to make everything looks boring when going through it till the end
They are plenty pictures which are almost identical and if you could filter out this images and live only few images on this post like this post will become astonishing and alot of people won't be bored going through it
I hope you will try to understand what I mean and you will try to look into it from the next subsequent editions of your contents
Have a blessed time there and thanks for sharing such a quality article with us. You got talent and I'm impressed with how you use it
