Primarily, Gnetum africanum commonly known as eru leaves are used as a vegetable for soups and stews, commonly called eru soup or afang soup.
before cooked, there are preferably sliced and chopped in to smaller pieces...
The leaves are sold in markets throughout the year very fresh and very dry as well depending on the need of the client and may be used in soups and stews or eaten raw.
I love eru and afang soup.

Awesome!! I had to learn about this plant in my biology studies... Did you know the stem can grow up to 12 metres?
