Here is a beautiful 19" (Micropterus Dolomieu) specimen. Also known colloquially as #SmallMouthBass, they are a freshwater fish species native to North America. They are a prized game fish, sought for their white flaky flesh and sweet taste. They are members of the sunfish(Centrarchidae) family, and (Perciformes) order which means ray-finned fish. The smallmouth bass is generally brown or green with dark vertical bands. They have a relatively small mouth when compared to there large mouth bass cousins.
#FunFact During spawning the females will lay approximately 5,000 to 14,000 eggs. Female bass generally grow larger in size than male bass. The average life expectancy of a bass is 10-12 years.
