This ruined house by Cienfuegos Bay, Cuba serves as a provisional berth for these polystyrene rafts (balsas de poliespuma in Spanish). The financial difficulties in Cuba forced many fishermen and hobbyists to obtain their own floating medium from different materials such as tires of trucks or jeeps and, as shown in the picture, polystyrene.
In his polystyrene raft this young man has access to fishing inaccessible to manual casting from the coast. (photo by: author)
Thousands of Cubans have died or disappeared crossing Florida Strait in these rustic rafts to reach United States shores. The death toll is unknown.
These rafts are also very practical when fishing in reservoirs because underwater vegetation and mud make wading near impossible. (photo by: author)
As a side note, the house in the picture appears to be constructed before the year 1959, and it seems it belonged to middle-class people, note the Solomonic column inside the house.
Thanks to @grecoloco for posting a photo of buildings in the process of disintegration that encouraged me to publish this very first photography of structures in ruins.
Thank you very much for the mention..I am really happy to be able to inspire people's creativity through my photos..it is a great honour.
You got some really nice shots here, especially these with the guys who are floating in the water :)

Oh, I made those last ones in a hurry and in precarious conditions for photography. It is a bit difficult these days with restrictions due to Covid-19.
