The Alternanthera is a genus of beautiful flowering plants in the family of Amaranthaceae.
It’s a wide spread genus with most lovely species occurring in the tropical Americas & others in Asia, Africa, including Australia.
Most plants of the genus may be known generally as joyweeds, or the Joseph's coat.
Several species are notorious looking noxious weeds.
It’s used in Taiwan local medicine to treat hepatitis, tight chest, asthma, bronchitis & other lung troubles, to stop bleeding & as a good hair tonic.
