Cycas revoluta is a species of gymnosperm in the family of Cycadaceae which is native to southern Japan including the Ryukyu Islands.
It’s one of several species that’s used for the production of sago, also as an ornamental plant.
Cycad stems & seeds are used for high blood pressure, congestion, headaches, rheumatism & bone pain. Leaves are used in the treatment of cancer & hepatoma. The terminal shoots used as astringent & diuretic.

It bears a great resemblance to the Arecaceae family, although the phylogenetic differences are clear between both species. I have heard that they are also useful for obtaining starch, although I do not know if it is really true. Greetings.
