It’s a native of the Mexico, the Caribbean & South America.
It has also become a widespread invasive plant in Florida, that’s where it was likely introduced as an ornamental plant.
It’s basically used traditionally as antipyretic, anti-asthmatic, antiviral & in respiratory diseases treatment.
