From time immemorial man has always searched for the meaning and pursuit of life. Why we are born? Whats our purpose on earth?
Going by anthro then the answer is simple: we are born to reproduce and maintain our species on this earth. But the real question is not so simple to answer. Various Yogis and masters in India have given a broader meaning of Life. That is achievement of salvation. It can be searching for the creator or knowledge. Buddha's philosophy says that knowledge is the way for salvation. Bhakti says uniting with God is salvation and others say just enjoy life and being happy is the real meaning of life.
As Swami Vivekananda has observed that service to man is service to God and by this we can achieve salvation. Yogic philosophy is quite different on this, it says that meditation and strong urge to meet God will bring salvation to man.
Going by all these definitions one can decide whats the real purpose of life.
