Anything you need, anything you want, say the words. I will do everything I can for you. - Author: Kiera Cass
My thoughts (Some times engaging, sometimes funny):
Would you brave thorns, with a risk of being pierced in the heart, for love? Well, this brave painted francolin would. Typically painted francolins get up on a mound or rock and call for finding a mate. This guy was so determined to find a mate though that he climbed a thorny tree and got much higher than competition - a romantic warrior indeed!!
Hi-Res image which I am sharing as #hivestockimages:
How I took this photo: Once the monsoon starts, the colorful Painted Fracolin males start climbing up on small mounds or rocks to call loudly to attract female francolins to their own territory. It was very unusual to see this Painted Francolin actually climb a tree. I had to maneuver with my car and on foot in more than waist high grass to get near the bird for this shot. Was not easy to do so without alarming the bird. Progress was slow and painful but in the end, the shot was worth it I think.
