Assalam o Alaikum
I hope you All are doing great by the grace of Allah Almighty. I'm fine too. Today I am going to take part in the contest that is organized by @waqarahmadshah in steem4Bloggers community.
How can blockchain help healthcare? |
---|
Blockchain ensures that health records cannot be altered or tampered with once they are recorded. By decentralization data storage, blockchain reduces the risk of data breaches compared to centralized databases. Blockchain facilitates the seamless sharing of medical records across different healthcare providers and system. Patient can have more control over their medical records. Blockchain can track pharmaceutical from manufacturer to the patient, reducing the risk of counterfeit drugs entering the supply chain. These are self executing contract with the terms directly written into code. While blockchain offers many benefits to healthcare, there are challenges to it's adoption like scalability, Regulatory compliance, interoperability, Cost and Complexity.
Are there any blockchain-based healthcare applications currently in use? |
---|
Yes, there are several blockchain based healthcare application currently in use. MedRec developed by MIT, MedRec is a system designed to manage electronic medical records using blockchain technology. It allows patient to have a comprehensive, immutable record of their medical history. Guard time has developed a blockchain based system for securing health records. Patientory is a platform that combine blockchain and healthcare management to provide secure storage. It enables patient, healthcare providers, and organization to access and manage health data securely. BurstIQ offers a blockchain based big data solution for healthcare sector.
What are some challenges in implementing blockchain in the health sector? |
---|
Implementing blockchain in the health sector present several challenges. Healthcare data is highly sensitive, and ensuring privacy while maintaining transparency is difficult. Advanced encryption techniques and permissioned blockchain network can help, but balancing transparency and privacy remain complex. Developing standard protocols and interfaces for blockchain integration with existing system is essential but requires significant coordination and consensus among stakeholders. Establishing universal data standard for healthcare is crucial but challenging. Investing in training and education programs to build a workforce skilled in blockchain and healthcare informatics is necessary for successful implementation.
