Compliments of the season from the motherland-Cameroon to friends of the Steem4bloggers community and welcome to my blog as I share my thoughts about the topic for this week’s challenge. I hope you all find pleasure in reading through my ideas.
Do you want to become popular or not? Justify your answer.
Many people become popular either because of a talent or also because of an act which draws the public attention. For instance, committing a crime which draws media attention. Some people even become popular without knowing because of their talent such as footballers.
I am a conservative person who always likes to go low-key without being popular. This is because popularity comes with a lot of media attention and family is always a target. You are exposed to lots of dangers from the public.
I always like to do humanitarian work by helping those in need but I do not like to publicise it. For my personal security and that of my family, I do not like to become popular because I will not be able to manage the risks associated with being popular.
Becoming popular also makes you create barriers and restrictions as to who visits you and who not to visit. I do not like creating such barriers because of my popularity.
What do you think, the way of becoming popular matters or not?
As I earlier said, people become popular for different reasons. Either you commit a serious crime that draws media attention towards you and makes you popular or your good deeds make you popular via your talent.
Therefore, the way of becoming popular matters a lot. Do not become popular for the wrong reasons for instance becoming a terrorist might make you popular for the wrong reason and draw media attention. Notwithstanding, showcasing a good talent is a good reason to make you popular as people will wish to become like you.
In a nutshell, I will say popularity should be productive and not counterproductive.
In your opinion, which qualities make a person popular?
The following are some qualities I think make someone become popular:
- Genuine: Everyone likes to talk about those who portray themselves to be genuine in their actions. Portraying a fake character makes people lose trust in you and will not want anything that comes from you. When you are genuine, people tend to trust you and will talk good about you.
- Portraying good body language: body language matters a lot. Your tone and voice message speaks volume and determines who you are. When you have good body language, it draws many people’s attention towards you and this makes you popular.
- Consistent in action: becoming popular for a good reason makes you be consistent in your actions. Do not be the type that is everywhere and becomes unreliable because you are never consistent with your actions.
- Compassionate and kind: popular people always make different people feel important in any conversation and make others feel better no matter their personality.
The pros and cons of becoming popular.
The first advantage of becoming popular is that you also attract different opportunities to your career and this makes you become richer. Take for instance as a football star, you do not only earn from playing football but you become a face of some brands and products which you are highly paid for.
Secondly, you are treated differently whenever you go out. Take for instance Christiano Ronaldo's outing in a restaurant with other people. It is obvious that the treatment offered to him at the restaurant will be different from what they offer ordinary people.
The first disadvantage of becoming popular is that you cannot freely do things that an ordinary man does. You are forced to live in your own world and do not mingle anyhow.
Another disadvantage is that it attracts stalkers to your life. People will be harassed and want to even fake things about you to post on social media.
Lastly, being popular means exposing everything about your life and having no privacy. For instance, on a sunny day, if you decide to take a walk around the street, pictures of you will flaunt everywhere.
This is the end of my discussion and I am inviting @saxopedia, @majerius, @fombae and @solaymann to share their thoughts about the topic.

Hola

Saludos
