What do you guys think about the financial stability of a person? Well, I think out of all it's a crucial factor for our happiness. It's not the only thing, but it's a main thing. Well, that's why we all concern so much about a steady income, investments, savings etc.
Well, that's why we value both blogging and powering up here in our beloved platform. So, why I am raising that question with you. Because receiving a green light for the IMF Loan is the major news circulating these days in my country. So, let me share the details with you.
Receiving a green light for the IMF Loan
Well, it's not a secret that Sri Lanka is going through a devastating Economic crisis for more than a year now. It's not an overnight circumstance. But due to the long term effect of poor decisions, poor planning, mismanagement, misuse by the previous governments. They blindly took debts especially from China under higher interest rates, and invested in shitty projects. God knows the amount of money that transferred to their pockets.
Anyway with that, our economy went down, inflation did rise for all-time high, foreign reserves became zero, and officially became a default country with $100 billion+ debt.
So, for IMF (International Monetary Fund) was the only option available at the moment. On serious terms, and restructuring of loans from China, India etc it was approved after trying for more than one year. It's just $3 billion and the first tranche of $330m will be received soon.
Well, actually this is not something to be proud of or be happy about. This is the 17th IMF bailout for the country and the third time in the last decade. So, if these politicians continue the same tactics the repercussions will be more severe. But hoping that this will be taken into better use and people will have at least a bit of benefit.
So, what will happen after the IMF Loan? It's the biggest discussion of the day here.
