That is David sitting all alone, waiting for the next lecturer. while he sit , he watches the cool and popular kids looking so attractive, having all the attention and girls surrounding him like the way ants surrounds sugar. David day-dreaming he was in this shoes and was the popular kid.
At one point in our life especially during our teenage or adolescent years, we’ve always wanted to be in that spotlight of being cool and popular especially when you find yourself in a new school, camp or new environment. The need to be seen is always there and I’ll be discussing with us some of this frequently asked questions about “POPULARITY”.
But before doing that I’ll love to invite some of my friends @eurogee, @nesydahlia and @sirexcellence01 to join the contest.
DO YOU WANT TO BECOME POPULAR OR NOT? JUSTIFY YOUR ANSWER |

Growing up, I’ve always wanted to be a popular figure. Most times i see movie stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan take the center stage and the spotlight beaming on them. I would wish I could wear their shoes even for a minute. The respect and the audience they command is so amazing. I’ve always wanted to carry the aura they possess.
I have always wanted to lead an ideal life, become so popular rather than blend in with the crowd like a mere passerby. I wished I could command those respects but now that I’m all grown up, I think I now prefer the quiet life. Being popular figure, draws too much attention to one's self . It becomes difficult to do anything peacefully for fear of the paparazzi lurking somewhere, just to catch a moment for their magazine . Sometimes people go as far as bugging your houses with secret cameras just to get headlines on the front page news. From what I’ve observed so far, i think I'll rather be a low profile billionaire, that way the risk of being attacked by competitors and harassed all the time on social media is at minimum.
WHAT DO YOU THINK,THE WAY OF BECOMING POPULAR MATTERS OR NOT? |
---|
Let’s look at two scenarios:
First scenario, Here is a girl, Hilda bacci. Who was the longest cooking chef in the world and was also recognized by the Guinness World Record with lots of prestigious gifts and awards.
Second scenario, a popular influencer bobrisky, who dresses like a lady and keeps deceiving himself by doing several surgeries just to get the looks of a lady.
Among this two people, which way will you prefer to become popular?
For me, the way you become popular matters a lot. We all know, people do crazy things just to become rich and famous but not all of them can command respect. Among the two influencers I mentioned above, one will be accepted whole heartedly by Nigerians and the other can be mobbed by people if he walks alone without escort.
If you want to be popular, we all have the internet as an advantage to use to reach billions of audience. Some popular figures can open doors of favor for you just by having close ties or connections with them. Look at the case of the Nigeria celebrity musician Davido, If it wasn’t for him, a lot of us wouldn’t have known his wife chef chioma. She would have just existed in her small circle except she took a huge step like Hilda bacci. Right now, chef chioma is now an influencer and popular figure thanks to her husband Davido.
Let’s move on to the social media space , if you are selling a particular brand and it hasn’t been making sales and a beloved influencer and celebrity buys your products, or advertised you on their blog, you will witness a rush of customers eager to buy from you . On the contrary , if a criminal politician that has looted the economy recommends you , you will beg not to be mentioned on their page for fear of negative reviews/potential damage to your brand name.
So, it matters a lot how you become popular.
IN YOUR OPINION, WHICH QUALITIES MAKE A PERSON POPULAR |
---|
I won’t say there’s an exact formula for been popular because what might make an “academician” become popular might be different from what will make an “actor”become popular but there are a few general points that I believe applies broadly and I’ll be listing a few of them.
My case study will be a Korean actor: Lee min ho . My kid sister's love for this guy inspired me to watch one of his movies(Boys before Flowers) .
- Confidence and Charisma.
This can be seen in the way he leads his group though he goes over the board sometimes. He commanded attention and admiration among his social circle. These qualities he displays in his movies creates a compelling presence that resonates with his audience/viewers
- Good social skill:
This young man's ability to adapt to various social settings ,conveys emotions effectively and connect with other cast and crew members got my attention. At this point,I understood why the female gender sang his praises .
- Attractiveness:
Lee Min Ho's physique , authenticity, sense of humor, charisma coupled with his genuine connections with others makes him appealing in various social and personal contexts. This is probably one of the reasons why my sister is intrigued by him .His attractiveness and style plays a significant role in his popularity.
- Achievement and success ;-
Lee Min Ho's achievement through awards, accolades, strong fans following and his overall successes in the entertainment industry translates to his widespread admiration and popularity. People who excel often garner respect and admiration.
- Uniqueness
Lee Min Ho's uniques style and compelling screen presence creates a memorable and captivating persona that resonates with his audience . His acting techniques, signature looks and ability to deliver authencity to diverse roles just makes him stand out. He always has something fresh and original hence his audience are so drawn to him. You really don’t have to be an imitation just have that distinct personality. Be you.

The moment you become popular, you're seen as a leader. Your words then carry influence , people follow your lead the moment you speak.
- You become recognized and visible on social media gaining massive followers , expanding your social circle providing you with opportunities to connect with diverse range of people
Cons:
- You are required to perform in a certain way or maintain a certain image. You can know longer be yourself as usual because all eyes will be watching you. Your personal life details becomes public.
The constant pressure of trying to maintain a certain image forces you to live a life that's not yours trying to impress your followers all the time so you don't fall below their expectations.
Your actions and choices are constantly subject to evaluation and criticism
You're constantly dragged by haters and oftentimes misunderstood by the public
- Always being criticize all the time so much that it affects your mental health.
CONCLUSION |
---|
Been popular do have its benefits and influence it gives to individuals but it comes with its own price you have to pay because it entails conforming to a certain character, constant scrutiny, and pressure. So, the choice is all yours.. But as for me, I love been on a low key and I don’t need the attention.

Creo que es la presión de grupo en esa edad adolescente la que influye en nuestra decisión y nos hace actuar racionalmente.
