To start with, it is important to discuss some basic terminologies used here on the Steem blockchain so as to give everyone a clear understanding of the said platform and how it operates.
Steem is the native currency of the Steemit platform. Steemit on the other hand is a decentralized social media platform that is designed to write and earn. This means that content creators write post here and then earn from the publication made.
To better understand this we will be looking indepthly on what the Steem blockchain feature is all about and discuss extensively the features listed. Lets get started.
Decentralized: One of the major and number one features of the Steem blockchain is that it is decentralized in nature. The word decentralised means that Steemit as a platform works in network of computers connected together around the world and this implies that it has no central authority.
Token-based: The Steem blockchain has its own native token as I have earlier explained above. Their native token is called Steem and this token is use to reward users I e., authors or curators.
Content creation: Another major features of the Steem blockchain is that it is designed for creation of content. We only earn when votes here if we create contents this means that rewards can only be earn if there are contents to vote upon.
Voting system: Contents are voted upon in the Steemit platform based on its relevance to the system. This means that a better quality content is determined by the upvote it's get so as a user you are expected to vote on an article based on the relevance of the article to you.
Curation rewards: Aside from the rewards getting by authors, those who votes on post also earn rewards and this rewards is what we call curation reward. All of these rewards comes as a result of the upvote we give out.
Fast and feeless transactions: Transaction on the Steem blockchain is designed such that it happens within seconds and there are no charges attached.
Open-source: Another major feature of the Steem blockchain is that it is open source which implies that it can give programmers or developers the go ahead to contribute to developing new things within the platform.
Community-driven: There are many communities that are currently present on the Steemit platform which allows users of the platform to engage with each other via the process of creating and curating content within the platform.
Reputation system: The last but not the least feature I wish to talk about here is the reputation system within the Steemit platform. Users have reputation based on the content created, number of upvotes and their engagement with one another within the platform.
Based on the above listed and explained features you will agree with me that Steem blockchain is very unique as it is both a social media platform, blockchain based technology and also a token based system where authors and curators earn good rewards.
