Good evening and a happy weekend to all my steemit friends on this amazing community, I hope you are all doing great and enjoying your weekend as well, as for me I am making the best out of it,no dulling my darlings.

I must appreciate @abdullah for bringing about this Contest on the topic "say no to smoking".

We all know that this is a very serious issue in our society that has really eaten deep into our system, and the disheartening thing is that a lot of persons don't actually see what's wrong or the danger of smoking and the harm that its causes to our health.

I'll be sharing my views by answering the contest hint questions....

🚬Do you smoke or know someone close to you who is addicted to smoking? Tell us about him.

I DON'T SMOKE in capital letters, I am always allergy to the smoke of the cigarette, if I stay around people or environment that they smoke, the smoke will be choking me and I will be coughing seriously, and that will make me so uncomfortable.
That is why I don't appreciate going to the club or any gathering that there's no discipline not to smoke.

Part B of that question says " Do you know someone who's addicted to smoking?

Yeah one of my cousins of blessed memory was very addicted to smoking, I wouldn't know if that is what killed him. He was addicted to the extent that he would wake up at 4am to smoke, when asked him why he had to woke up that early, he would replied that smoking that early gives him inspiration and motivated him for the day ahead. What a weird and a lame reason.

Another one is that he would be smoking inside his car while driving, can you imagine that, what a risk! I couldn't able to ride with him till he passed. I love my life so much. He really took his well being for granted I must say.
It was painful that we loss him though.

🚬Do you know why and how do people become addicted to cigarettes smoking?

Cigarettes contain nicotine, so when staying around people who smokes and you inhale the smoke, that nicotine causes the release of dopamine in the brain which generate good feelings in people. So over the time, the brain would process and start craving that feeling and this would make people to experiment the use of tobacco in order to derived that feeling of nicotine.

Another thing that I think causes people to be addicted to cigarettes smoking is depression. Depression can make someone to do the unthinkable,my dears' if you're depressed and you don't have the "God factor" in the person of the Holy spirit to help you heal, you might fall back on smoking by trying to get solace and comfort, and these can make you become addicted to it.

A person can also be addicted to smoking through peer pressure.

🚬Tell us about the negative impacts of smoking on one's mental and physical health?

Let's see the impact of smoking on one's mental health first

Do you know that cigarettes contain nicotine, and that nicotine improves concentration and mood?. That nicotine can help the brain to relax, by decreases anger and stress, its also relaxes muscles and reduces appetite. So the regular intake or dose of nicotine can causes changes in the brain thereby causing the brain perform a nicotine withdrawal because of excess of it, and that might cause mental health problems to an individual.

Impact of smoking on one's physical health

Smoking can cause damage to the eye vessels,by making someone to have a bloodshot appearance in the eye. It can cause cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases etc. All these are life threatening ailments.
It is not all pleasure that we should delve in, some are at a very high risk and are detrimental to our health.

🚬How can you guide someone to quit smoking and come back to his normal life?

By counseling and advising the person with love, not with hate or demeaning words. I'll try my best to encourage the person to see the need that smoking is very detrimental to his health, that it might not go well with him in the future. That all he needs to do is to quit, if he was smoking five stick a day, he can do three, till he's able to stop totally.

The best asset you could think of is your health, so be very intentional about your health my friends.
